About Me
Hello, my name is Eliezer Natera, but I also go by Eli. I am currently in college in my early years of higher education. I am someone who is interested in learning, improving, and deeply understanding people. I chose this class this semester because I want to become stronger in my communication skills, especially reading and writing, which I know will help me throughout my life.
Thinking back to my earliest experiences with literacy, I remember learning how to read basic words in elementary school and sounding out letters little by little. One recent memory I have is when I started reading books out loud instead of only in my head. This helped improve my fluency and gave me more confidence with reading, along with support from my teachers.
At home, literacy was emphasized heavily in my everyday life through communication and schoolwork. My family encouraged me to stay on the right path, and I often had small assignments to complete at home even when there was no school. I practiced daily, trying to become more efficient. Reading, texting, and schoolwork all became more comfortable for me outside of school.
In school, my teachers played a major role in my development and were role models to me. I remember being rewarded for reading more and writing essays, even when it was difficult. Sometimes I would become frustrated because organizing my thoughts on paper was not easy. However, through repetition and feedback, I gradually became better and more confident in expressing my ideas.
As I grew older and matured, I realized that literacy skills followed me throughout both school and personal experiences. I began reading more complex texts, writing longer assignments, and communicating more clearly in discussions. I also began using technology more, incorporating different forms of literacy into my daily life. Reading instructions, understanding information, and sending messages all became part of my everyday literacy practice.
Something I realize now is that literacy is not limited to school. It is something we use every day in understanding instructions, communicating with others, and learning new information. Being literate has become something I do constantly without even thinking about it.
Now I feel more confident in my speaking and writing skills than when I was younger. Although I still have room for improvement, I can express myself much better than before. I also recognize that learning from different sources online continues to help me grow, and this growth only stops if I stop putting in effort.
Overall, my literacy history shows a clear progression from learning basic reading and writing skills in school to applying them in everyday life. I have become more confident over time, and I have learned the importance of balancing personal growth with academic development. I expect my literacy skills to continue improving as I keep reading, writing, and learning.
